RE: Any haulers visit Glacier NP lately?

We were there a couple of years ago. We stayed in the Mountain Meadows Campground in Hungry Horse, Montana. Nice RV park with a trout pond for the kids. It's a short drive to Glacier NP and there were several rafting companies along the road into the park. It should also be the closest point to SoCal.

Securing a Boat

Anyone haul a small aluminum boat in their toyhauler? How do you secure it? Any tips or suggestions? I am thinking that I need to ad a small winch to help pull the boat into the hauler and to let it down. Anything else?

RE: shortest fifth wheel toy hauler

We looked at some in teh 27' range before settling on the Ragen FA3005. The Ragen is truly 30.5' in length.

RE: Bicycles in the Toy Hauler

With a couple of hooks into studs on the house garage wall the PVC bike rack could be used in your home also.

RE: US 20, in OR

Hwy 20 is an easy drive, not a lot of scenery, but straight and flat from Burns to Bend. If you have time south of Burns are the Steens mountains. In Fields, south of the Steens, you can get the best milkshake on the West coast! I wouldn't drive 242 with a trailer, it is definitely something to see, but not with a trailer. You can get fuel in Burns, Riley, Bend, Sisters, shouldn't be a problem.

RE: RV Park in Ashland, OR

Try Diamond Lake on the north side of Crater. There are some parking areas and the north entrance to Crater is less than 15 miles.

RE: Rio Grande Valley TX to Portland OR AGAIN

I moved from Lubbock, Texas to Oregon in March of 2000. I drove I40, cut up to Las Vegas, up to Reno, and then into California to I5. The Siskyou's in Southern Oregon will be the place you will run into snow. I didn't in 2000, but we are getting hammered this year. Lot's of snow in teh mountains and Souther Oregon is getting big storms. If I had to guess, I would think you would be fine in April. If I were driving it I would much rather go up I5 through the Siskyou's than through the Rockies.

RE: Oregon to Yellowstone

"Bend, 20 east to Ontario" is a long drive through the high desert. Not much to see or do, stop for fuel in Riley or Burns. If you do go this direction, south of Burns is Page Springs Campground, near French Glen. Stay there and enjoy the hot springs all around the Steens.
At Yellowstone we came in the West entrance and exited the South entrance to teh Grand Tetons. I really liked the NE entrance, although pulling a trailer through there may not be fun.

If you take a break until it let's up, you may have found your new home! I lived in Lubbock, Texas and the wind never stops blowing!

RE: WW Bunk Beds Not Working

"I changed out the fuses I thought would be some what bad."???? Scotty I think they are either good or bad, no in between! If anything I would think it was tightening down the wiring that fixed your problem. I am not trying to come across as a smart a$$, but hopefully what I say will save you some time.

New (to me) Ragen

A few days early for Christmas, but we just got a 2007 FA3005 Ragen. I bought it used from a private party, but it only had 4-5 trips in it. I'll post up some pics as soon as I have them. I'm not going to have much time to play and check things out this week, but after Christmas I'll crawl through every detail.
I have a few questions already (with many more to follow).
1. I was told it had a 40 gallon fuel tank that was for both the generator and filling station. Do other have this same set up? How much fuel does the gen use? (5500 Onan)
2. The front cap has the notches, is this designed for short wheel base trucks? It also came with the Sidewinder box to move the pin location away from the rear of the truck. Should I also have a sliding hitch?
That's enough for now, I'll have more when I get a chance to check it out. I bought it from another state unseen. I did have some friends go by and take a look, but I was very nervous about the deal until I finally saw the trailer. Thank you for your help.
